It’s finals. Tuesday night I COULD NOT FOCUS! Why? Because I had hiccups! Okay, that’s not the only reason but it was a great contributor. 15 minutes and a headache later I had enough. I couldn’t think of how to get rid of my hiccups so I looked up remedies online. One of the suggestions was to swallow a teaspoon of sugar or vinegar. The following conversation followed:Liz(roommate/cousin): Have you ever tried to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon? Aubrey: No. Have you? Liz: Ya. It’s totally disgusting. (a few seconds later) Aubrey: I kinda want to do it know. Liz, talk me into it.
And that’s how a spoonful of sugar turned into a spoonful of cinnamon. (By the by, my hiccups finally left when I drank cold water until I just about suffocated from lack of oxygen.)
Try it! I dare you! It’s so much fun. What’s really funny is that at the end of the video you can hear one of my roommates express a want to try. And you know what else? Liz lied! She never did it before. She too wanted to try. So they did it together.
As you can see, I am more tempered to cinnamon. I didn’t have a problem until I tried talking. The thing about cinnamon is that it dries out your mouth. If you try to talk if poofs out and when you try to breathe it goes down your throat. If you laugh it goes down your throat. You get stuck between needing to cough and breathe. Fun stuff! I was fine though. Water definitely helped. Our apartment ended up smelling like cinnamon. I had cinnamon in my eye, in my lungs, in my throat (all of which burned for the next 24 hours), in my hair, in my skin, in my clothes… EVERYWHERE! Would I do it again?… Only if it was worth it.
